First Commandment. Thou shalt fear
LORD thy God, him shalt thou serve and to him shalt thou cleave, and by his name shalt thou swear. Justice, justice shalt thou follow, that thou mayest live, and inherit the land which Jehovah thy God giveth thee. Holy shall ye be, for holy am I, Jehovah, your God . Thou shalt love the Lord thy God out of all thy heart, and out of all thy soul, and out of all thy mind, and out of all thy strength; This is the first and great commandment.
SECOND COMMANDMENT.
And the second, like it, is this: Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself. There is none other commandment greater than these. A new commandment I give unto you, that ye love one another; as I have loved you. In this shall all know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another. Thou shalt not hate thy brother in thine heart; thou shalt surely rebuke thy neighbor, and not bear sin because of him. Thou shalt not avenge, nor bear any grudge against the children of thy people. True judgment judge ye. Ye shall not make any cuttings in your flesh for the dead, nor print any marks upon you: I am Jehovah. Love ye therefore the stranger.
THIRD COMMANDMENT.
And God spoke all these words, saying: I am Jehovah thy God, which have brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage. Thou shalt have no other gods before me. Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth: Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, norserve them; for I am Jehovah thy God, forte, jealous, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children, upon the third and upon the fourth generation of them that hate me; and showing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep my commandments. Thou shalt not take the name of Jehovah thy God in vain; for Jehovah will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain.
FOURTH COMMANDMENT.
Remember the sabbath day, to sanctify it. Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work: But the seventh day shall be the sabbath to Jehovah thy God: In it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates: for in six days Jehovah made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all things that in them is, and rested on the seventh day;wherefore Jehovah blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it. The children of Israel shall keep Saturday, to celebrate Saturday throughout their generations as a perpetual covenant.
FIFTH COMMANDMENT.
Honor thy father and thy mother, that thy days may be long upon the land which Jehovah thy God giveth thee. Thou shalt not curse thy father and thy mother. Ye shall fear every man his father and his mother. I am Jehovah your God. And, ye fathers, correct thy sons and he shall give thee rest; and he shall give delight unto thy soul.
SIXTH COMMANDMENT.
Thou shalt not kill thy neighbor, it was said: That no man shall anger foolishly against his brother, that innocent blood be not shed in the midst of thy land, which Jehovah thy God giveth thee for an inheritance, and so blood be upon thee.
SEVENTH COMMANDMENT.
Thou shalt not commit adultery.Thou dost not pollute thy daughter by making her a harlot. But on account of fornications, it was said: Shall a man leave father and mother, and shall be united to his wife, and the two shall be one flesh. And thou shalt make no marriages with them, and thou take of their daughters unto thy sons, and their daughters go whoring after their gods, and make thy sons go a whoring after their gods.
EIGHTH COMMANDMENT.
Thou shalt not steal, nor feign, nor lie one against his neighbor. Thou shalt not oppress thy neighbor, neither rob him: The wages of him that is hired shall not abide with thee all night until the morning. Thou shalt not curse the deaf, and before the blind thou dost not put a stumbling block, but thou shalt fear thy God: I am Jehovah. It was said: Thou shalt not rob thy father and thy mother.
NINTH COMMANDMENT.
Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbor. Let none of you think evil in your hearts against his neighbor; and love no false oath. It was said: Thou shalt not despise thy neighbor. TENTH COMMANDMENT.
